Greetings everyone! I'm Melanie B, and welcome to Maryland Medicinal Yoga, a safe space where we elevate and heal the mind & body through the combination of yoga & cannabis.
I believe yoga is for anyone and everyone. It's not just for those who want to sweat & chant, or for those who can touch their toes or stand on their heads. At Maryland Medicinal Yoga we focus on real world yoga and that is for anyone seeking to relieve stress, gain flexibility while strengthening the body, quieting the mind, connecting with self, or simply to have a good time.
So, a little about me. I'm a 200 HR Yoga Certified Instructor (RYS) and have enjoyed the benefits of yoga & cannabis for over two decades and am passionate about sharing it.
My yoga path began while I was a single mom to a toddler, taking 18 credit semesters at Parsons School of Design, where I earned my BA in Design Management. It was a stressful time to say the least. A good friend of mine noticed how burned out I was and asked me if I'd ever tried yoga. Once I told her I'd tried a few classes in the past and enjoyed it but never found the time to actually "stick to it" she insisted I attend a class at Jivamukti Yoga Center in Union Square. So I did, and I did again 3 days later, then again two days later, and and that was it. I was 1000% hooked! I had time for myself that I'd never experienced before. It relieved my stress, soothed my aches, both physically and mentally, and began to transform my body on multiple levels.
As a seasoned cannabis user it didn't take long for me to recognize the benefits of fusing the two, and though I practice & teach many styles of "medicinal" yoga my favorite is Hot Vinyasa. The combination of cannabis & heat allows the body to release tension, flow at it's natural rhythm, and go deeper into poses.
